Shine designed and produced the “Monarch Legacy of Monsters” main title sequence for AppleTV+ and Legendary. From Chris Black, Matt Fraction, and the studio behind The Monsterverse, comes a family drama spanning 1952 and 2015, Tokyo and San Francisco, and two families with a common mystery. The ensuing family drama that’s set against the backdrop of the Monsterverse unfolds in an adventure that spans the globe. And the mystery crosses generations to solve.
The title sequence uses a graphic split-screen treatment, dividing the frame down the center. By juxtaposing images left and right, contrasts from the story are illustrated: the year 1952 contrasted with the year 2016. San Francisco contrasted with Tokyo. Analog technology contrasted with digital technology. The graphic montage of images becomes relevant after watching the amazing first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
Sound waves were a visual that teased the reveal of the monster in season two.
